Infrastructure: The rejection I got last week came with a handwritten note telling me the panel had had lots of “great discussion” about my application, so I got in touch with the staff to see if they could share any more detailed feedback. They made an appointment to talk with me today. I was expecting the feedback to be, “The script was fine but we had some reservations about the resume and artist’s statement.” (Like many people I know, I really dislike coughing up an artist’s statement.) But in fact it was, “The resume and artist’s statement were fine, but we had some reservations about the script.” This is actually encouraging. There’s a limit to what I can do with the facts of my resume between now and this year’s deadline for the opportunity. But the script, I can do something about.
